Monica Sheila Moreno passed away on Saturday October 10, 2020. She was born on July 29, 1964 at Hermann Hospital to Jose Luis Moreno and Mary Velia Minjares Moreno. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Her passions included spending time with family, reading, traveling, playing cards, casino trips, dancing, watching ghost stories/science fiction and hanging out at the beach.
Monica always had a smile on her face and was always looking at the positive even when she was going thru many heartaches. She was a survivor and overcame cancer twice in her life – she was diagnosed at age 6 with Leukemia at a time when the survival rate was very low and at age 43 with Ovarian Cancer. Monica’s kind and generous heart will be truly missed by all that knew her. She continued to help other children with Leukemia thru her participation in life long university studies. Monica worked 17 years at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center until her retirement due to health issues.
Monica is survived by her spouse Alton Lafferty and sons Brandon and wife Jessica Moreno, Logan and Aaron Lafferty and siblings, John (Sharon) Moreno, Joe (Margie) Moreno, Max (Sharon) Moreno, Roland (Ruth) Moreno, Angie (Dave) Weldon, Chris (Jennifer) Moreno and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
