Oralia Estrada Rosas

Oralia Estrada Rosas passed away on April 12, 2018.  We pray that she is in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother.  Oralia was born November 12, 1931 in Waelder, Texas to Ramon and Maria De Jesus Estrada and spent most of her childhood in Laredo, Texas.  Oralia’s life was filled with faith, love, hope, compassion, laughter and joy.  She lived her life as a humble example of her Catholic faith, a faith she shared with her family.  Her heart, much like her home, was always open and full of love for all who entered.  Oralia dedicated her life to raising her seven children.

Oralia is preceded in death by her husband Octaviano D. (O.D.) Rosas; son, Fernando Rosas; and brothers Jose and Juvencio Estrada.  She is survived by her loving daughters Mary L. (Richard) Perez, Guadalupe (Larry) Batey, Rosalinda (Chip) Yardley, Olga Castillo, Carolina (Gary) Webber, and Kathy Ann (Rodrigo) Santos-Coy; grandchildren Joseph Rosas, Stephen Castillo, Paul Rosas, Jennifer Barrera, Stacy Rosas, Maricela Castillo, Jessica Valenzuela, Melissa Batey, Christopher Batey, Mireya Castillo, Diego and Luciano Santos-Coy; and six great-grandchildren Ayden Rosas, Alexandria Perez, Joshua and Jaqueline Valenzuela, and Abrianna and Gavin Rosas.  She is also survived by her siblings who reside in Laredo, TX, Jacinta, Dolores, Ramiro, Juan Manuel, Ramon, Rosa Elia and Maria Elena Estrada.

Oralia’s loved ones will always cherish the many wonderful memories we shared with her.  Her wisdom, faith and love shaped the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.  Her ability to warm our hearts with a simple smile, her tender hugs, and infectious laugh will be greatly missed.  She loved us deeply and unconditionally; may we always endeavor to deserve it. 

Viewing will be held Wednesday April 18th at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Road, Houston, TX.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 10135 West Road.  The Rite of Committal will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway.

The family is grateful to the North Cypress Medical Center nursing staff including nurses Katerina (Kat), Susan, Theresa, Tristan, among many others and her physicians, especially Drs. Shepherd and Rushford for their tender and loving care of our dear Mother during her extended illness.
