Reverend Wayne LeRoy Peterson, Sr. (1935 – 2020) entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 5, 2020. A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville, TX on Saturday, January 25, 2020.
Wayne L. Peterson, Sr. was born on November 6, 1935 in Stromsburg, Nebraska to Carl O. and Elizabeth R. (Michener) Peterson. He served as a Drill Instructor in the Army then married Gwendolyn Faith Anderson in 1956, in El Paso, TX. He was educated at Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, IL, Millikin University in Decatur, IL and finally receiving his Master’s Degree in Christina School Administration from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, IN. He accepted the call to follow Jesus in church ministry in 1970. Licensed and ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in IL, MN and TX, Wayne served for over 40 years as a pastor.
Honors and positions held included the roles of high school teacher, administrator and principle of the Sweetwater Christian School in Houston, TX, retired from the North Texas Water District, and co-operated daycare in Farmersville, TX. Hobbies include a joy for fishing, reading, woodworking, and being handy around the house. Wayne continued to be an example and share the Good News of Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection until his final breath.
Wayne is survived by 4 Daughters: Deborah Huber, husband Gerald, of Fairfield, CA; Sandra Mozdzanowski, husband Peter, of Westlake, FL; Sheryl Herold, husband Thomas, of Houston, TX; and Rebecca Sidoti, husband Gary, of Haslet, TX; 1 Son: Wayne Peterson, Jr., wife Jean, of Forest Lake, MN; 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
