Rita Margaret Flores went home to be with the Lord on (Friday) March 2, 2018 in Houston, Texas at the age of fifty-six.

Rita was born on December 27, 1961 in Pueblo, Colorado to Fermin and Victoria Rodriguez. She graduated from Colorado State University—Pueblo in 1986 with a degree in Education. She married Geovanny Flores, a mechanical engineer in 1987. After moving to Houston, Rita began working for CFISD as a third grade teacher at Francone Elementary. The couple welcomed two children into their home: Michael and Sarah Flores. Rita set about teaching her children the importance of family and the value of personal integrity. Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and seek happiness throughout their lives.

Rita was an accomplished bilingual educator and had often been recognized as an outstanding teacher. Rita was a dedicated instructor who was passionate about providing the best education and guidance for her students. She was also an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community.

Rita is survived by her husband, Geovanny Flores of Houston, TX; her son, Michael Flores of Houston, TX; her daughter, Sarah Flores of Houston, TX; her brother, Felipe Rodriguez of Pueblo, CO; her sister, Antonia Luna of Dallas, TX; her brother and sister-in-law, Ernesto and Antionette Rodriguez of Rock Hill, SC; her brother, Fermin J. Rodriguez of Pueblo, CO; her brother-in-law, Adalberto Morales of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her sister-in-law, Norma Morales of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her sister-in-law, Nancy Morales of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her brother-in-law, Evert E. Flores of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her sister-in-law, Maritza Flores of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her brother-in-law, Jhonny E. Flores of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her aunt and uncle, Jessie and Robert Quintana of Pueblo West, CO; her niece, Julie Rodriguez of Pueblo, CO; her niece and husband, Jennifer and Tim Centa of Anaheim, CA; her niece and husband, Joy and Luis Lara of Denver, CO; her nephew, Francisco Sandoval of Boulder, CO; and her nephew, Christopher Rodriguez of Boulder, CO; her niece, Norlangri Morales of Maracaibo, Venezuela; her nephew Oswaldo Fernandez of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her nephew, Elisaul Morales of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her nephew, Jhonny R. Flores of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; and her nephew, John C. Flores of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Fermin and Victoria Rodriguez of Pueblo, CO; her mother-in-law, Sara Montiel of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her brother-in-law, Dario Flores of Santa Bárbara del Zulia, Venezuela; her nephew, Juan F. Sandoval of Boulder, CO; and numerous other relatives.

A memorial cremation service is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at the family home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rita’s life. The family will accept flowers and donations.
