Robert Nelson Dingley, 83, died on September 27, 2018.
Mr. Dingley was an active duty Chief Petty Officer for the US Navy for 4 years, then retired after serving in the reserves for 20 years. He was a reserve deputy for the Harris County Sheriffs Department from 1980 until 1986. Mr. Dingley was also Vice President of the Resident Council at Village of the Park, and he loved greeting new resident by giving them tours and providing maps to them for the Village.
He and his beloved wife Stevie-Ann enjoyed RVing, and were members of the SMART RV Group (Special Military Active Retired Travelers). Mr. Dingley also loved collecting frogs, going on cruises, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved gardening, being known for his delicious tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Mr. Dingley had a wonderful sense of humor which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Most recently he took pride in being an active member of a Wii bowling team.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Higdon.
Mr. Dingley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Stevie-Ann Dingley; children, Bret Dingley and wife Terri, Roy Dingley, Glen Dingley and wife Melinda, and Cris Dingley and wife Crystal; grandchildren, Tia Arriaga and husband Adam, David Dingley and wife Krista, Walter Dingley and wife Amanda, Dylan Dingley and wife Jeny, Mirisa Dingley, and Summer Dingley; great-grandchildren, Bobby Arriaga, Kimber Arriaga, Alexandria Dingley, Emmett Dingley, David Dingley, and Adaline Dingley; nephew, Craig Digdon.
