Robert Dale Henderson

Robert Dale Henderson, age 63, passed away on March 20, 2019.

Robert was born on September 24, 1955 in Jennings, Louisiana.  He grew up in Welsh, Louisiana and graduated from Welsh High School in 1973.  He attended and graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana in December 1977. In July 1982, Robert began working for M. Lipsitz & Company in Waco, TX.  He and his family were transferred to Houston in 1994 with M. Lipsitz & Company where he worked as the manager of Market Street Recycling. 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kelly Henderson; son Connor, daughter Leslie Gonzalez (Sam), and grandson, Theodore Logan, sisters Maxine (Tommy) Moore, Linda Wilkinson, Betty (Scott) Lonis, Pat (Creston) Woodson, Brenda (Wayne) Perry, Vivian McMillan.  Numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by son Logan (2008), brothers Herbert and Sonny, sister Jeannie Carnahan and parents Curtis and Annie Mae Henderson.

Robert was a wonderful husband, father and brother, as well as a great friend.  His greatest gift was his wonderful personality and love of people.  His spare time was spent supporting his children with their various activities.  He enjoyed coaching basketball, camping with the Disawannas and visiting with friends.  He opened his home to many friends of his children and made sure each one felt his support.  People came first for Robert and this attribute will be missed by all who love him.  His comical character was known by everyone as he readily offered jokes to strangers and loved ones alike.  His family believes there will never be another Robert Henderson and just thinking of him brings a smile to their face.  Robert worked hard to provide for his family, even as his health declined.  We are thankful to God for Robert’s life and will dearly miss him.

Kelly, Leslie and Connor wish to thank Robert’s sisters - Linda, Pat, Brenda, Betty and Maxine - for tirelessly supporting us during his illness.  Their endless love and generosity will always be remembered and appreciated.
