Tribute

Robert E. Tessier, a Houston Police Helicopter Pilot and Sergeant Retired, and a member of HPROA & ALEA and the Marine Corps League, passed away on Thursday January 28, 2021, at the age of 72.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years Mardy Tessier; and children (listed by age) son Sam Tessier and wife Paula with children Patrick Shawn Tessier and Laura Elizabeth Tessierand wife Lindsey; daughter DJ Tessier and wife Jessica with children Kaylor Key, Grace Tessier, and Riley Tessier; son Eddie Tessier; daughter Samantha Hepford her husband Scott and their children Asher Alan Hepford and Alegria Ann Hepford; and adopted grandson Jordan Teel.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eddy E. and Doris L. Tessier and his brother James E. Tessier, numerous very happy puppies all waiting to greet him.

Robert began his distinguished law enforcement career as he became a police officer for the City of Houston on January 8, 1968, in Class 37. After many years' experience and promotions in various departments, he retired from HPD on July 7, 1988. Robert then had additional careers in law enforcement and fire prevention in Houston TX, Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs CO, and Cypress TX.

Bob and Mardy shared a very special love, and he enjoyed everything in life with her. Robert and Mardy enjoyed their times with their loving and special grandchildren, near and far. He was an avid dog lover and habitual “treat sneaker” to the family dogs Ghost Rider and Snoopy.

One of Robert’s favorite activities was visiting with his fellow law enforcement friends and aviation colleagues as often as he could; still flying whenever possible, helping when he could, sharing endless stories, and enjoying that special brotherhood known only by those in law enforcement.

In his later years Robert was focused on everything Fire Department related, from spending quality time working with family on his personal fire truck to countless spare-time hours researching the histories of fire departments across the country. The resulting mass of information, memorabilia, and images he collected over his years devoted to that pastime could easily fill a few museums.

His family members appreciate all the amazing stories and pictures his many friends have already posted on Robert's Facebook page and ask that you continue to do so to celebrate his life.
Please also feel free to send pictures and stories to his daughter D.J. Tessier (djtessier@aol.com) to be considered for collage and discussion at Robert’s memorial service.

The body is entrusted at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. 9926 Jones Road, Houston TX 77065 (281) 897-9823
