Tribute

On Sunday, May 2, 2021, Rolando A. Hevia, adoring husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 80, in Cypress, Texas. He was born in Cuba, the son of the late Aurelio and Josefina Hevia.

He worked for engineering and oil field service companies for more than 40 years in various states, where he was greatly respected and highly regarded as a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable problem solver by his peers. He loved every aspect of the engineering field and his work ethic was unparalleled. Rolando enjoyed talking to everyone, telling stories about his life and anecdotes about work, going to the movies, listening to classical music, and going to the Houston Symphony; he was also a very devoted, loving, gentle and caring pet parent, and regularly made donations to animal rescue and protection groups.

Rolando is survived by his wife: Laudi Hevia; his daughter: Thiany Hevia Hennessey; his grandchildren: Susan Leiva, Christina Hamilton, David Hamilton, Elizabeth Morales, Kenny Fos, and Ashley Kibodeaux; his great-grandchildren: Faith, Irie, Mason, and Sophia; and his beloved dogs Oliver and Willoughby.

In addition to his parents, Rolando was preceded in death by his younger brother José Manuel Hevia; his eldest daughter ElgaHevia-Skelton; great-grandson Danny Barron; and his beloved pet Sammy.

Rolando was adored by his family, was loved by many, and will be missed by many more.

To honor Rolando’s life, please consider making a donation to the Humane Society, Houston ASPCA, Red Collar Rescue, or P.E.T.A.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later time.
