The first time I met Mr. Ronnie was at a restaurant called Slick Willies on Woodridge Dr. in Houston in 2002. During my lunch break, we would play pool throughout the week. He would always ask me if I would be interested in becoming a race car driver, but I was not courageous enough to race, so I declined. He became a close friend of mine. On the other hand, one day he scared me to death when he screamed loudly and fell to the ground while shooting pool with me. When I asked him what the problem was, he told me I have a heart monitor that shocks a person's heart when their pulse rate drops too low. Considering our friendship, I said, "I thought I had beaten you too badly." He laughed. I lost that game, of course.
Over the course of the year, I checked on him and he checked on me. During our last conversation, he wanted me to assemble a pit crew and start racing. We had lunch at Chuy's on I-10 to discuss another of his business ventures. Over the years, Mr. Ronnie has taught me so much about investing, racing, and life in general. The number had been disconnected for the last couple of years, which worried my wife and me because he has had the same phone number for a long time. As a result of searching for ways to contact him over the past years, I learned today that my friend is no longer with us.
Therefore, I would like to say that I am grateful for the opportunity to have known you and shared part of my life with you. I truly love you and appreciate you for being who you are. However, I am grateful that I had a chance to say hello to you even though I did not get the chance to say goodbye to my friend.

Dear Marion, our hearts were truly saddened to learn of Ronnie’s home-going. Oh my goodness how the years have gone by. I pray that God will continue to strengthen you and comfort you, and may His peace be yours. I will be in touch soon. Love and hugs, Marilyn (& Earl) King) - your old holiday baking buddy. Many blessings to you.

That was fast! I enjoyed your Facebook chats. I remember you from our youthful days at Eight Street Baptist Church in Temple. Those are good memories. You remind me of home. Like you lived, so you died quiet and peacefully. You are forever in our hearts. RIP! I offer my love and condolences to the entire Venable Family. Gena

Ronnie I will miss you, especially your sense of humor, because of you, Vickie and I learned how to drive, by you taking us out to the go-cart track in Belton. There are so many wonderful things in which you have touched our lives. I do know sadness will linger for a little while, but love endures forever. You were a great cousin and big brother to me. Love you cuz, Karen Chavis
