ROSE MARY DOBSON, born September 21, 1956, entered into rest on Monday, October 4, 2021. Preceded in death by her parents, Luis F. Capistran and Dora G. Capistran. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Randy Dobson; son, Ruben Dobson and wife Jennifer Dobson; daughter Rachel Dobson and partner David Gutierrez; brothers Jesse Capistran, Julian Capistran and Joe Capistran; sister Norma Cano; various nieces, cousins and Taekwondo family. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 8:00am-10:00 with a service beginning at 10:00am at the Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, 9926 Jones Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested plants that can be re-planted and continue to grow and live. Rose decided to be cremated, so there will be no cemetery ceremony after the service.

First and foremost Rose was a loving wife and mother. She married her high school sweetheart and raised two children. Along the way, her love of art developed and she became an avid artist in painting and ceramics. Many of her art pieces won awards at Lone Star College and two of her paintings were accepted by the Neon Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 2 semester away from achieving a Bachelor’s of Art in Painting from the University of Houston, Summa cum Laude. In addition to being an artist, she trained in Taekwondo for the past 22 years achieving the rank of 4th degree Black Belt and International Taekwondo Instructor. Her love of teaching martial arts was evident by the respect her fellow instructors and students bestowed upon her.

If Rose were not painting or practicing Taekwondo, you would most likely find her and Randy at the fishing pier in Galveston. She loved fishing and was credited with catching a 3’ Black Tip Shark several years ago on her birthday in Galveston. They fished the Gulf Coast from Galveston to Key West, Florida.

Rose wanted her funeral to be a time of celebration and good thoughts. She requested attendees wear bright colors and not dark colors.

Rose’s family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to all the physicians and nurses at HCA North Cypress Hospital.
