She moved with her family to Corpus Christi, TX after graduating from Alleman High School. She met and married Carl in 1958, they started their family in Corpus. After a lifetime living in different parts of Texas, the Republic of Malta, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Indiana, she and Carl returned to Houston in retirement. Sharon loved to travel, meeting and creating life-long friends along the way. A lover of art, music, history, learning, and social justice; she was a marathon reader and letter writer who instilled in her family a World view of inclusion, equality, and acceptance that rejected bigotry and prejudice.
The source of her Democratic politics and social activism came from Sharon’s deep understanding of the Catholic faith. A founding member of St. Catherine of Siena (Spring Branch) and for the last 34 years as a member of Christ The Redeemer, she was a religious education teacher, an RCIA sponsor, and adorer at the Adoration Chapel. Living her faith, she was a member of the Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, The Southern Poverty Law Center, and a supporter of other progressive organizations too many to list.
Sharon enjoyed her roses, a good laugh, a stimulating conversation, helping others, and swimming every chance she could get.
Put quite simply Sharon was unconditional love, making sure that she not only told others she loved them but most importantly showing them as well.
