Croes, Sixto Roque
Born April 6, 1940 in Oranjestad, Aruba, one of the ABC islands in the Carribean about 15 Miles North of Venezuela. He immigrated to the United States in 1951 at the age of 11 and became a US citizen five years later in 1956. After graduating St. Pius High School, he served in the United States Air National Guard. After leaving the service, he worked on instrumentation and telemetry at NASA and the Johnson Space Center during the heyday of the Mercury and Apollo moon missions. He participated in the testing of nose cone shapes and thermal protection tiles for the Space Shuttle. He loved music, dancing, flying and electronics. During the 1970s before computers became personal, he was a member of local Houston computer groups and built a personal computer at home.
Roque was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Parish in Houston, where he was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Eucharist and a Lector. He was a 4th degree Sir Knight in Assembly 3310 and a member of the Anton J. Frank, Knights of Columbus, council 8771.
Roque is preceded in death by his daughter Alisa Croes Keating and father Rosimbo Croes. He is survived by his wife Patricia Kubiak Croes, his son Tony Croes and wife Beckie, his daughter Yvette Smith and husband Kelly, his daughter Tricia Croes McCaslin, son-in law Simon Keating, eight grandchildren, Austin and Jared Henley, Alex and Erin Croes, Riley Keating, Dalton, Shane and Colton McCaslin, mother Eligia Croes, sister Susie Barone and brothers Robert, Mirto, Roe and Mike Croes.
