Sylvia Marie Carruba

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, Sylvia Marie Carruba, devoted mother, grandmother and sister, was called to her heavenly father at the age of 81 after a brief illness. She was born and raised in the San Antonio area to Ferdinand and Consula Casanova, on January 23, 1941.

Sylvia married to her late husband James in 1958 and raised their family in the Houston area.  To most she was known as “Ma” not only by her children but also by her neighbors, and everyone she came in contact.  She never met a stranger and loved talking about her many travels, and she spent most days doting on her grandchildren who were her world. 

Left to cherish her memories are her sons Mark Carruba and wife Meredith, Michael Carruba, and wife Karla and children Courtney Marie Carruba, Zoey Carruba, Skylar Carruba, James Carruba, Nathan Brown, Evan Brown and Zachary Brown; brother Stephen Casanova and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is gone but never forgotten, leaving her loving memories in our hearts forever.
