Tribute

On June 9, 2022, Thomas James Talleos, loving husband, father, son, Papou and friend went to be with the Lord at the age of 60. Thomas was born on August 14, 1961 in Manhattan, New York to father Christopher Talleos and mother Brenda Hill Fortier.

Thomas grew up in Washington Heights, New York until the age of 12 and then he moved to Waterbury, Connecticut. He graduated from Kroft Secondary High School in Waterbury in 1980. He played basketball in high school with his brothers and throughout his adult life.Thomas moved to Texas in 1991 where he worked for Klein ISD until he retired. Thomas raised his family of four sons with his wife Nelly in Dallas, Tx and Houston, Tx.

Thomas met Nelly in Connecticut while they were both working. He asked her if she was Puerto Rican or Italian to start the conversation. He then proceeded to ask her on a date and she said yes. A few minutes later, he called her back over and laid a kiss on her lips, that sealed their fate over a long and loving marriage. When dating, one of Thomas & Nelly’s favorite memories was when they went dancing to their song ‘Twilight Time by the Platters’ and Thomas would sing into her ear. They were in a moment where no one existed and then they heard cheers and clapping from others on the dance floor.  When Thomas asked Nelly to marry him, he told her it would be for life, to love and honor her through thick or thin, in sickness and in health, through joy and sorrows, richer or poorer, and for God’s hand to be upon their marriage. Thomas fulfilled every one of his promises. Thomas has been with his wife Nelly for over 35 years filled with love, joy and laughter. Thomas was Nelly’s favorite love story, her happily ever after and the love of her life. Thomas was her prince, hero, and blessing from God.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Hill Fortier, grandmother Eleni Talleos and uncle Costa Talleos. Left to cherish Thomas’ memories are his wife, Nelly Talleos, father Christopher Talleos, Sons Brian Bennett and wife Deborah, Brandon Bennett and wife Cristina, Jason Talleos and girlfriend Audrey Espinoza, Justin Talleos and God gifted daughters Tina and Julie Phan. His grandchildren, who loved him deeply, Isabel, Devon, Evelynn, Jaylin, Elijah, Jordyn, Angel, Michelle, Joel and Aidalyn. Thomas’ brothers John Talleos and Peter Talleos, sister Barbara Talleos and uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.

Thomas enjoyed playing basketball, watching sports, music, singing, detailing cars, joking and seeing everyone’s reactions. Thomas could always bring laughter into any room and change the atmosphere. He was knowledgeable when it came to music. You could play a song and he knew the title, the artist and era. He was an old soul from his youth with the love of old classic music and movies from years prior to his birth. He loved fashion, dressing in suits and being called “Mr. GQ Man” by his family. He loved spending time with his sons, watching tv and movies, reminiscing and telling stories, playing basketball with them and their friends, telling them jokes and making them laugh. He was a loving father to Brian, Brandon, Jason and Justin and Papou to all his grandchildren.

Thomas James Talleos was loving, kind hearted and had a gentle spirit with a lion’s heart all in one. He left a lasting impression of his smile, laugh and kindness. He was passionate about his family and was devoted to his wife. Thomas will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
