Tribute

Velvet Carrell Hilton, 75, loving mother, sister, grandmother (Nanny), aunt (Wo Wo) and friend went to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 17, 2021.  She was born June 23, 1945 to Billie Dee Holder, Sr. and Kitty Jo Holder (Carrell) of the small West Texas town of Brownfield.  She later attended South Plains College where she was on the drill team and where she met her future husband.  They later married and moved to Houston, Texas where she resided for the past 40 years raising her sons Wendell and Greg Hilton.  Eventually her entire family moved to the area as well.  Velvet always loved having her sister and best friend Jan Tapley and her brother Chip Holder and their families close by as she adored them and their children.

Velvet worked on and off for American Alloy Steel for 40 plus years.  Not only were her co-workers like family to her, she was fortunate enough to work there with both of her sons and her daughter-n-law among many other amazing people she called friends.  She also spent several years working at Cy-Fair High School as the registrar where her kids attended.  Over the years, she became "Mom" to so many of Wendell and Greg's friends.  She loved her boys unconditionally and never faltered from that.  In her pastime, she loved spending time at the beach, fishing, watching scary movies and shopping on QVC.

In 1997, she was blessed with the first of her beautiful grandchildren Sydney Grace Hilton with another granddaughter Baleigh Faith Hilton to follow a couple of years later.  She was a proud Aggie Grandmother to these two girls.  Then in 2011, her first precious grandson Brody Van Hilton was born with another grandson Bentley Von Hilton to follow a few years later.  They were all the light of her life!!  If anyone knew Velvet, you knew her brother's beautiful daughter Hannah Nicole Holder.  Hannah was the one to call her Wo Wo and had a piece of her heart just as any of her grand kids did.  She was so involved as a mom, grandmother and aunt.  She rarely missed an event whether it be basketball, volleyball, cheer leading, baseball, school programs, parties, etc.  She was one of the most amazing moms, grandparents and aunts one could imagine.

Velvet's beautiful smile and spirit will be greatly missed by all!!  She will forever be in all of our hearts!

Velvet was preceded in death by her ex-husband Warner Wendell Hilton, her grandparents, parents Billie Dee Holder, Sr., Kitty Jo Ayers (Carrell), Step-father Cecil Ayers, and her Aunt Dell (Sister) Phelps.

Velvet was survived by her boyfriend Daniel Meche, sister Jan Tapley and her husband Tim and her brother Billie Dee Holder, Jr (Chip) and his wife Sheila.  Sons, Wendell Hilton and his wife Gina and Greg Hilton and his wife Courtney.  Grandchildren, Sydney, Baleigh, Brody, and Bentley Hilton.  Nieces and Nephews, Todd Tapley and wife Amiee, Shane Hedges and wife Sarah, Bethany Hedges Moore and husband Bill, Ashlee Blodgett and husband Jeremy and Hannah Holder.  Great Nieces and Nephews, Amanda and Timothy Tapley, Emma and Zoey Hedges, Carter and Dillon Blodgett and James Moore.  Longtime best friend, Claudette Holder.
