Tribute

On Saturday, September 17, 2022, Vincente Cantu Jr., devoted husband, father, and brother, passed away at 62. He was the youngest of five children born to Vincente Cantu Sr. and Marcelina Cantu, on February 22, 1960, in Weslaco, Texas.

Vincente grew up all over Northwest Texas and graduated from Dilly High School in 1978. afterward, he enlisted in the US Airforce, where he served for two years. After serving his time for the country. He returned to Houston, Texas, and started a career in HVAC while going to college. He met his wife, Rita Camacho, at a dance club, and they were married on January 2, 1993. Vincente and Rita were blessed with two stunning children. During his days, he spent his time as a facility maintenance engineer and worked his way up to a facility maintenance supervisor. In his off time, Vincente loved to play sports and watch football. He was a true 49ers fan down to his core. He also enjoyed playing his rounds of golf. He loved going out to eat with his family and sharing stories. He was also an intelligent man who loved the arts, music, and cooking. Vincente loved engaging in conversation with anyone, and it didn’t matter what you looked like or what you had been through. Vincente would listen to every word and knew just what to say. He enjoyed working with his hands and getting physical as he did doing small crafts for his daughter and overall, his creative, quirky, and generous mindset made Vincente such a sweet and caring man that we knew and loved.

In 2011 Vincente started attending Lakewood Church, where he gave his life to the lord. He decided to turn his life around for the better. Vincente would be a man of God and continue spreading his love for Christ to others who needed help or advice. Vicente would always go back to the Bible and pray very well to where you felt God was listening to you.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 29 years, Rita Cantu, son Michael Vincete Cantu, and daughter Rachel Catalina Cantu. Older sister Ester Hahne and husband Michael Hahne, Sister Rosa Cantu, older brother Jose Cantu, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Sister Carmina Cantu.

He is gone but never forgotten, leaving his loving memories in our hearts forever.
