Tribute

William Michael Cook, Jr., age 59, of Houston, TX, passed away May 22, 2022.

Michael was born April 16, 1963, in Pasadena, TX.  He graduated from Lovelady High School in ’81. He was a country boy at heart and felt the most comfortable when driving down an East Texas red dirt road.

Michael was funny and always ready with a joke or story to tell. He laughed easily and was the life of the party. When you heard the name Michael Cook, you knew a good time was going to be had. Michael was generous and ready to give without hesitation. He did not need fancy things; he was a simple man who believed in being there for his friends and family. He was the first to call when you needed help, and he would be there in a snap to complete any job needed with integrity and fidelity. He worked hard. Michael knew the meaning of a hard day's work and devoted countless hours becoming the best at his craft. He was an intelligent man who knew his business and skillfully completed his work.

Most of all, he loved immensely. All were family in Michael’s eyes, he gave his love freely and in return, was loved and adored by many. He believed in the importance of tradition and always put family first. He was loyal and proud to be a Cook. His goal was to be the best husband, father and Papaw he could be. His children and grandchildren were blessed beyond measure to have someone like Michael in their corner. He loved more than one would think possible, and his family always knew how proud he was and how much they were loved.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, William Michael Cook, sister Anna Cook, and grandparents Glyn B. and Georgie Lavenia Cook. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Maren Elizabeth; three daughters, Maggie and husband Bryan of Fort Mill, SC, Stephanie and husband Kale of Cave Springs, AR, and Brandy and husband Michael of Wimberley, TX;  9 grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brayden, Bradley, Fletcher, Anderson, Rosemary, Braxton, Hudson, and Everett; mother Billy Dukes of Plano; and siblings Mark and Tracey Cook of Missouri, Brandonn and Kim Dukes of Southlake, and Kandi and Brian Pearson of Fate, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on June 10th from 5-8pm at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on June 11th at 12pm at the same location. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Keg’s Icehouse located at 12549 Jones Rd, Houston, TX, TX 77070
