Born: December 8, 1929 in Houston, Texas to Nelson Henry Hassell and Ethel Reeder Hassell.

Death: Reunited with her husband of 67 years after a brief 12 week separation on November 22, 2017, just 17 days short of 88 years of age.

Age: 87 years, 11months, and 14 days.

Wilma was born in Houston, Texas and was a lifelong resident of the Cypress

Fairbanks and Cypress areas of Harris County. She was raised on a dairy farm

just a short distance from where she and Don would later build their dream home

on Ladino Street, in Cypress. She attended High School (and was a cheerleader)

at Cy-Fair High School. In 1949, a friend introduced her to a young man serving

in the Air Force at Ellington Field. She was married to Donald Dean Bushong on

March 4, 1950 at Fairbanks Baptist Church, and for the next 67 years they were

inseparable. Wilma worked for 30 plus years for Cypress Fairbanks I.S.D. in the

Media Department. She and Don became members of Metropolitan Baptist

Church in 1984 and were active members throughout the entire time. They were

both Sunday School Department directors, teachers, greeters, and outreach

leaders. They were active in the Saints Alive and served as trip coordinators for

many, many years. Wilma played piano for both the S.S. Department and Saints

Alive. Wilma was deeply in love with her husband, children, grandchildren and

and great-grandchildren.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents: Nelson and Ethyl Hassell;

Wilma is survived by:

Daughter: Kay Reinecke and husband Larry of College Station, TX

Son: Stephen Bushong and wife Jin of Tomball, TX

4 Grandchildren:

Lori Bourgeois and husband Clay of Tomball, TX

Cheryl Stansel and husband Armand of Klein, TX

Chris Reinecke and wife Bethany of Krum, TX

Yuanyuan (Ren Ren) Wang currently serving in the US Navy

8 Great-Grandchildren:

Terrin and Josh Bourgeois

Noah, Nathan and Micha Stansel

Caitlan Belshaw, Julianna, and Alex Reinecke

Sister: Maxine Baker and husband Tommy of Magnolia, TX

Brother-in-Law: Marlin Bushong of Michigan

Sister-in-Law: Jeanna Bushong of Tyler, TX

And several nieces, nephews, family members and numerous friends
