Elledge, Yon Hui (Kang) 

Yon Hui Elledge, known as 'Nina' to her family and friends,  passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2018, at the age of 78 years old in Lake-West Hospital in Willoughby, Ohio.

A native of Korea, she came to the United States in 1969 with her husband, Edward Franklin Elledge, a United States Army veteran.  They were married for 42 years before Edward died in 2006.  They moved to Houston, TX in 1983 from Willowick, OH. They had four children, Debby Elledge Gorney (Tom), Jimmy Wayne Elledge (Patricia), James Kenneth Elledge (Nancy), and Danny Lee Elledge.

She is survived by 3 brothers, Wan Hui Kang, Chan Hui Kang, Woon Hui Kang and sister, Poong Hui Park along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Paek Suk Kang, her mother, Yi Soon (Choi) Kang, her brother, Tae Hui Kang, and her grandson, Mark Edward Gorney.

Nina's greatest pride and joy were her 8 grandchildren, Mark Edward Gorney, Danielle Marie Gorney, Amauri Edward Elledge, Brandon Monte Elledge, Devin Nathaniel Cameron, Lauren Elizabeth Elledge, Kayden Franklin Elledge, Jason Lee Elledge and her 2 great-grandsons, Dylan Thomas Berteau and Cody Edward Berteau.

She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. She loved to garden, sew, and cook. Anytime you'd stop by Nina's house you would find her cooking in the kitchen, sitting in front of her sewing machine making clothes, or reading her bible. You'd never leave her house some fruit or a plate of home cooked food.

Nina was a mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother that will be truly missed.  She will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery with her husband, Edward, at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038 on Monday, October 1st at 2pm.
