Carol Ann Martinez

Carol Ann Crow was born December 13, 1964, in Giddings, Texas. She graduated from Hanks High School in El Paso, Texas in 1983 and received a degree in Early Child Development at Texas Tech University in 1991. After college, she was a teacher at Houston ISD for two years.  After teaching in Houston ISD, she worked for the State of Texas/ Vocational Rehabilitation Program for almost sixteen years. She held three positions: Rehabilitation Assistant (RA), Medical Services Coordinator (MSC), and a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC). Her last position was as an RA. 

Victor met Carol in a hospital in Lubbock Texas when they were both attending Texas Tech University at the time. They quickly became friends. While Carol was in the hospital Victor would sneak her out on a stretcher to a park across the street to watch the ducks. Their friendship soon became a love for each other and on a trip to Paris, France, Victor proposed to her in front of the Eiffel Tower. They were married November 4, 1996. Together they cared for and loved four dogs.

During their first year of marriage Carol was in the hospital for six months and they took the situation in stride trusting God and loving each other. We can’t count the number of days Carol has been in the hospital during the past forty years, but during those days she never complained about her situation. The hospital nursing staff quickly became her friend and within the next day she knew their names and the names of their kids.

Carol was a kind, sweet, and loving person. She had a childlike nature about her especially when it came to her love for God. She always had a quick smile and a sparkle in her eye. She was not afraid of death and held in her heart the strongest conviction that God would be there to take her hand and lead her to heaven.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Maury Lee and Elaine Hoffman Crow and her sister, Sandra Dianne Crow.

Carol is survived by her husband, Victor Martinez, their dog Sonic, her sister and husband Marlise and Kevin Peckham, and her nephew and wife, Jacob and Kate Skinner.

Pallbearers will be Carol’s nephew, Jacob Skinner, and her cousins, Kervin Hoffman, Ashley Mutschink, Lance Mutschink, Chad Walther and Tim Walther.
