Kerwin Lester NygrenJune 13, 1960 ~ November 3, 2017 (age 57)
Kerwin Lester Nygren, along with his twin brother Kelvin, was born June 13,1960 to Dean and Zelma Nygren in Wichita, Kansas and passed from this life on November 3, 2017 in Houston, Texas after a long battle with cancer. Kerwin is preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Zelma Nygren. He is survived by his wife, Sunny, and their daughter, Zoe as well as his sister, Marla Zaragoza and brothers, Doug (Joni) Nygren, Kelvin (Nancy) Nygren and MSG John (Cynthia) Nygren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Kerwin graduated from Parson High School in Parsons, Kansas in 1978 and graduated from Central Bible College (now Evangel University) in Springfield, Missouri in 1984. He was youth pastor at Bridgman Assembly of God church in Bridgman, Michigan and also District Youth Director of the German district in Michigan for a period of time. Following that he was Director of Chi Alpha (campus ministries at University of Texas in 1994, Kansas State University from 1995-2000 and University of Oklahoma from 2000-2002.) He especially loved working with international students through the International Student Friendship. During his time in Kerwin managed a place called Rome XII next to the University of Oklahoma. It was a student center/concert venue/coffeehouse setting. Activities included concerts, events for students, International Student Friendship meetings, banquets, game day watch parties, etc.
During his time at OU, he met Aihui “Sunny” Wang and they were married in 2002. Kerwin and Sunny were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Zoe Rae, in 2003. The family moved to Taiwan for a year where Kerwin taught English. Upon returning to the United States, he worked On-Site Audio/Visual Coordinator – Data Projections from August, 2007 to October, 2013 at Exxon Mobile in Houston, Texas. He also worked as a freelance Videographer, Video Editor, A/V Technician, and Photographer from 2000 forward. Kerwin loved music. He was a songwriter and played the guitar. A talented man, Kerwin is loved and will be missed by many.
